The Colington Creek Inn would like to thank all our visitors and friends who expressed their concerns about the hurricane. We received many calls, emails and notes. We cannot tell you how grateful we are to know that you all were thinking of us. We were blessed as we were not on the side that received the most wave erosion. We only sustained minor damage and some flooding in the garage.

Everything is “ship shape” and ready for the new season. We would like to thank all of our guests for a wonderful year and we are looking forward to another great year when we open for the season on 4/1/12.

Many people have asked us about the “Double R” and the bright red heart that is prominent in the eaves of our building.  We have had speculation that it is a secret an anti-hurricane symbol or maybe a mysterious Outer Banks version of the Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs.  Not quite….but not far off.  The Double R’s represent Ruby and Rose,  two sisters whose family owned this property for generations and who lived in a traditional Outer Banks cabin on this location before we built our Bed and Breakfast.   Ruby and Rose were Mae’s aunt’s and as a child, Mae spent may days and evenings in their company listening to their stories and enjoying this beautiful piece of the planet.  While they are no longer with us, the Double R’s are a tribute to these brave and beautiful women who showed us how to appreciate life’s little pleasures.  We honor them and hope to impart a little of their spirit into this house and onto your visit.

Surrounded by water, the Inn is a beach, boat and bird lover’s paradise on North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks. Observe eagles, herons and osprey from each of four large quest rooms with luxurious private baths. Enjoy full breakfasts, evening hors d’oeuvres and nitetime snacks in the commons or on one of the comfortable protected porches.  Whether fishing from our dock, walking on the nearby beaches or swinging in the hammock, it’s time to relax at the Colington Creek Inn.
